We are one of the newer faculties at Charles University, established in 1959. Our mission is to foster a community that advocates for physical activity and sports as integral components of a sustainable and healthy lifestyle.

Our initiatives cater to diverse groups irrespective of gender, spanning all age ranges from children to seniors, and encompassing all segments of society, including professional athletes and individuals with disabilities.

We provide education for students and professionals involved in various domains such as the school system, physical education, sports, sport management, recreation, physiotherapy, and other related fields. Regarding research, our primary focus revolves around topics associated with preventive measures for sustainable and healthy lifestyles. Our interdisciplinary approach involves research teams working in sports science, kinanthropology, sustainable health, physiotherapy, human sciences, history, pedagogy, and management.

We collaborate with educational, research, non-profit, and commercial organizations. Our offerings include a diverse range of lifelong learning courses and the publication of magazines and other materials.

A significant aspect of our collaborative efforts involves our international relations. We have partnerships with universities worldwide and extensive experience in student exchanges, particularly within the Erasmus+ program.

PHYSIOTHERAPY (Bc.)

This program serves as an ideal foundation for individuals aspiring to pursue a career as a physiotherapist. Leveraging the expertise of faculty members, many of whom are experienced healthcare professionals and scientists, the program also benefits from various resources, including teaching hospitals and other social facilities.

A graduate holding a bachelor's degree in physiotherapy is equipped for a paramedical healthcare profession. They are authorized to administer a range of physiotherapy treatments encompassing preventive, diagnostic, remedial, and rehabilitation care in various medical settings, such as hospitals, rehabilitation centers, specialized departments, social care facilities, spas, and sports facilities. The physiotherapist possesses practical skills applicable across the spectrum of physiotherapy, demonstrates the ability to work autonomously, and utilizes a wide array of physiotherapeutic methods and techniques, including those involving physical agents. They are proficient in evaluating the outcomes of applied therapy, adhering to knowledge and skills in accordance with WCPT regulations.

PHYSIOTHERAPY (Mgr.)

Applicants are required to hold a bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy or an equivalent professional qualification, aligning with the content covered in our Bachelor's program. Graduates from recognized universities offering a Physiotherapy Bachelor's degree outside the Czech Republic may receive an individualized study plan to address potential differences in the program.

A master's degree holder in physiotherapy is a highly skilled healthcare professional qualified to deliver specialized physiotherapeutic care encompassing preventive, diagnostic, remedial, and rehabilitation treatments in various medical settings, including rehabilitation institutions, specialized departments, social care facilities, spas, and sports facilities. They possess the autonomy to apply a wide range of physiotherapeutic methods, including those involving physical agents, and can evaluate the effectiveness of the therapy administered. Additionally, they are equipped with the necessary background to lead both practical and theoretical education for physiotherapy students.

The Master's program includes specialized courses focusing on reflex therapeutic methods such as Bobath, Vojta, Lewit, and Kabat, lymphatic drainage techniques, and the treatment of functional female infertility according to Mojzisova.

Students are required to undertake a supervised research project, usually forming the basis for their Master's thesis, along with a compulsory research methods course. The knowledge and skills acquired align with the regulations set by the World Confederation for Physical Therapy (WCPT).
